Love it! February 20, 2010 sweetestgirls (Atlanta, GA United States) Finally, a blender that works! I was looking for a blender with lots of power because I make frozen drinks and smoothies several times a week. I tried to squeak by with a cheaper blender - I tried Hamilton Beach, Osterizer, and a "Smoothie Maker" that were all advertised as great for making frozen drinks - none of them worked. Not one of them crushed ice, and after a few uses, the motors on all of them started smoking, even though I did not run them more than 30 seconds at a time.
I decided I needed to spend more to get something that actually worked. The reviews for this blender were so helpful. I was trying to decide between the Waring and the KitchenAid or Cuisinart, and I am so glad that I chose the Waring. It crushes ice and frozen fruit in seconds, and I love the non removable blades! Very easy to clean! One tiny drop of dishwashing liquid, fill halfway with warm water, whir for a minute, rinse, and done!
So far I have made pina coladas with lots of ice; fruit smoothies with frozen strawberries and frozen bananas; peanut sauce; gazpacho; and thick soups, all with perfect results.
Stand back and be prepared to clean up a mess January 8, 2010 Italian Mamma (New Jersey) I received this blender as a gift and was delighted to finally have a good, solid blender that can crush ice when making drinks. And this blender does that well. However, when I tried a new recipe that required a blender to mix liquids without ice I wound up with a big mess to clean up. What I didn't realize is that the clear plastic dome that screws into the black rubber lid doesn't create a leak-proof seal. After you line up the dome with the lid and turn twist it into place a gap remains where the liquid can escape. When I turned on the blender the liquid shot up through the gaps and landed all over me and the surrounding walls. I called the company for a new lid thinking the one I had was defective. The new one had the identical defect. This blender is good for semi-solids and mixing liquids with ice, but definitely not for blending/mixing liquids.
Broke after a few uses December 26, 2009 Alissa L. Shoemaker (Indianapolis, IN) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We don't use our blender every day. So, when we do get it out we expect it to work. We got this one as a gift two years ago. We've used it maybe 2-3 times and it has already broken. The blade just fell off in the process of blending a soup that was not very hot and consisted of very soft squash. I will never purchase this brand again. A total waste of money.
Great blender December 16, 2009 The Bod (detroit) This blender is far superior to the Oster 2 speed blender which I own. I use the blender for two purposes,1. pureeing and 2. making smoothies. It performs excellent for both tasks. Consumers reports agrees with me on those two functions. Great blender.
Not as professional as I hoped November 29, 2009 John Maroun (Boston, MA) I go through blenders quicker than anyone I know so perhaps it's my fault and not the blenders fault. This blender looked sturdy enough and it claimed to be professional so I gave it a shot. It worked great until I tried to blend some prunes or dates, I can't recall. It didn't like that and a motor component melted as it struggled through the fruit paste. I was disappointed since I thought this might be the last blender I would buy for a while. I took it apart to see what failed and noticed a small plastic piece melted onto the motor. I guess if you know the does and don'ts of blending then this is good one. For myself, I think I need to keep looking.
